The European Commission has approved all requests submitted by 18 Member States, including Romania, for support in preparing their territorial plans for the transition to a climate-neutral economy, with each Member State having to draw up such a plan in order to gain access to the financing granted within the mechanism for a Just Transition, it is shown in a release of the community executive, quoted by Agerpres.
The mechanism for a Just Transition is part of the European Investment Plan for the European Green Deal and will mobilize at least €100 billion in investment to provide additional specific support to the regions most affected by the transition to a neutral economy and have a lower capacity to meet this challenge. The approval follows a call for specific proposals, launched by the Commission at the end of February 2020, within the Support Program for structural reforms, according to e-nergia.ro.
