The private sector in particular and the economy in general responded perfectly to the measures implemented by the government since February to reduce the effects of the pandemic, and Romania managed at the end of the first quarter, against all apocalyptic criticism and estimates, an economic growth in real terms of 0.3 % compared to the 4th quarter of 2019, which translates into an annual growth rate of 2.7%, says the Minister of Public Finance, Florin Cîţu.

“The private sector in particular, the economy in general, has responded perfectly to the measures implemented by the government since February to reduce the effects of the pandemic. Congratulations! Romania has managed, against all apocalyptic criticism and estimates, an economic growth in REAL terms of 0.3% compared to the fourth quarter of 2019. This translates into an annual growth rate of 2.7%, I said that this growth eliminates ALL the apocalyptic scenarios promoted daily by socialist propaganda. Why? The average of analysts’ estimates for economic growth was of minus 0.9%. This is what economists/ analysts have estimated, and I have said many times that it is far too pessimistic and that based on the macro models I use, Romania’s economy may be the only one with economic growth in the EU in the first quarter,” the minister noted on his Facebook page, according to Agerpres.
