The Minister of Economy, Virgil Popescu, announced on Friday, in Târgu Mureş, that the two large natural gas deposits in the county, Depogaz and Depomureş, signed together European financing contracts worth almost 200 million euro.
“Mureş County has a long tradition in energy, here being built the first gas well, in 1909, at Sărmăşel Gară, and a few days ago a project with European funding was signed for the two gas storage units… You have two gas depots, one of Depogaz, another of Depomureş, both of which together signed European financing contracts very recently, around 200 million euro. We will practically modernize those deposits, so that the extraction and injection in the system are at much higher levels,” said the Minister of Economy, quoted by Agerpres.
Depomureş or Târgu Mureş Depot has an operational capacity of 300 million cubic meters of natural gas, while the Sărmăşel Depot of the Depogaz has an active capacity of 900 million cubic meters/ cycle and belongs to the Natural Gas Storage Branch Depogaz Ploieşti, in which Romgaz is the sole partner.
