The natural gas market has the lowest level in terms of price, a historical level, so at present we are talking about prices starting with 25 lei on the markets adjacent to Romania compared to the beginning of the liberalization process in 2012, when the administrative price was of 45 lei per megawatt, said on Tuesday Niculae Havrileţ, secretary of state in the Ministry of Economy.

“The first liberalization is, according to Ordinance 1, the liberalization of the natural gas market for domestic consumers, from July 1. Of course, we are also in an area very favorable to the liberalization process. We are in an area where the natural gas market has the lower level in terms of price. It is a historical level. If you want a comparison, at the beginning of the liberalization process in 2012, the administrative price set for domestic producers was of 45 lei per MW. We are currently talking about prices starting with 25 lei on the markets adjacent to Romania. With the cost of transport, the price reaches somewhere below 28-30 lei. So we are in a very, very good period to complete the liberalization process, so that household consumers do not feel a possible cost of gas. Practically, the price can only go down,” Niculae Havrileţ was quoted as saying by Agerpres.

He also said that PNIESC was notified by the signature of the two ministers, Environment and Economy and Energy to the European Commission, and is currently “awaiting the Environment’s assessment, after which it will be approved.”
