About 70-80% of citizens across Europe support the wind energy. The industry is already working on retraining coal miners into wind jobs. The components are manufactured throughout Europe, including in economically disadvantaged regions and in places with their own wind energy production. At present, wind energy is one of the fastest growing industrial sectors in the world, accounting for over 300,000 highly skilled jobs and generating an annual turnover of 60 billion euro and 25 billion euro worth of new investment, according to windeurope.org.

Wind farms bring direct economic benefits to the places where they are located, often in rural communities. They also provide the jobs and investment needed in local communities. Wind energy allows commercial and industrial consumers to contribute to the energy transition, while locking their energy costs at affordable levels, according to financialintelligence.ro.

Wind currently produces, on average, 15% of EU energy demand, more in countries such as: Denmark – 48%; Ireland – 33%; Portugal – 27%; Germany – 26% and Spain – 21%. Wind energy will be a strategic industrial sector in supporting the European Green Deal.

The International Energy Agency (IEA) expects wind to become the main source of energy in Europe by 2027, while the EU Commission estimates that it could meet more than half of Europe’s energy demand by 2050, according to windeurope.org.
