The direct investments of non-residents in Romania decreased to 352 million euro in the first half of this year (H1), compared to 2.697 billion euro, between January and June 2019, according to the data of the National Bank of Romania (BNR), published on Thursday.
Equity investments (including estimated net reinvested earnings) amounted to 160 million euro, and intragroup loans recorded a net value of 192 million euro.
According to data centralized by the National Office of the Trade Register (ONRC), the number of newly established foreign capital companies decreased in the first half of this year by 41.41%, compared to the same period in 2019, to 1,674 units.
The 1,674 new companies had a subscribed share capital in the total amount of 3.841 million dollars, decreasing by 55.6% compared to January – June 2019.
As of June 30, 2020, the largest number of foreign-owned companies came from Italy, respectively 49,168 (with $3.846 billion subscribed capital), but the largest value of share capital belongs to Dutch companies, respectively $12.749 billion, in 5,462 companies, according to Agerpres.
In June, 228 foreign-owned companies were registered, with a subscribed capital of $1.41 million.
