The sales of ecological cars increased in Romania, in the first nine months, by 8.56%, compared to the same period last year, and reached 5,389 units, according to the Association of Car Manufacturers and Importers (APIA), according to Agerpres.
In this growth margin, on September 30, 2020, the share of new electric and hybrid cars in the total local car market was of 6.4%, above the level of the similar period in 2019, when it was of 4.1%.
According to centralized data, between January and September 2020, most purchases were recorded in the category of hybrid cars, respectively 3,427 units, down 8.2% compared to the first nine months of the previous year.
Also, the sales of electric cars registered a jump of 40.8%, up to 1,407 units, while the plug-in models sold 555 units, up by 141.3%, compared to the reference period.
At the level of September, in Romania, 827 ecological cars were sold, up by 4.68%, compared to August, when 790 units were sold.
