Romgaz’s strategy envisages multiple investments, leading to a doubling of the company’s turnover in the next seven years, the company’s general manager, Adrian Volintiru, said the conference “Romanian International Gas Conference(RIGC)”, organized by the Energy Policy Group (EPG).
“Romgaz’s strategy envisages the installation of energy production capacities of 1,500-2,000 MW in what is called gas-to-power (which uses gas to produce electricity – no.). It is very important to provide the gas resource for this, as well as for domestic and industrial consumers in Romania, so any multiplication of sources and quantities that come to Romania is beneficial for Romgaz as well,” said Volintiru.
Romgaz has also planned an investment in a methanol plant and wind and photovoltaic parks to increase the country’s energy security, according to Agerpres.
“From the scenarios we have made, it is possible that, in the next seven years, Romgaz will even double its turnover, which requires much more gas than we can extract at the moment,” the chief stressed. company.
He pointed out that Romgaz is very active in the market at the moment and is analyzing all the opportunities.
“We are looking very carefully at the opening of new onshore and offshore gas extraction opportunities for the coming years. We are, I say, aggressive in a positive sense at the moment, because we are very aware that for Romania, for Romgaz and for everyone, in general, gas is the future coal, so we need to be able to speculate as much as possible about this transition period, in which gas is used as a fuel in all respects,” Volintiru added.
