The Ambassador of the United States of America to Romania, Adrian Zuckerman, paid a working visit to the Iron Gates, together with the Minister of Economy, Energy and Business Environment, Virgil Popescu. The visit of the US Ambassador comes as a result of the initialing, on October 9 a.c., in Washington D.C., of an extended intergovernmental agreement, which allows the cooperation between Romania and the United States in the field of developing projects of strategic importance in the energy field.
“The intention of Exim US is to support strategic investments in Romania and to provide financing lines of approximately 7 billion dollars. Ms. Kimberle Reed, President of Exim Bank, will arrive on Monday to discuss the agreement between the Romanian Government and Exim for the financing of energy and infrastructure projects, following a visit to the Cernavoda nuclear power plant,” said the Ambassador of the United States of America in Romania, Adrian Zuckerman, on the occasion of the opening of the event.
In the same context, the Minister of Energy Economy and Business Environment, Virgil Popescu, said: “I encourage Hidroelectrica to get involved in green projects, and I want to believe that the company will diversify its energy production sources, that it will switch to solar energy and wind. Hidroelectrica is the pearl of the crown of Romanian energy, as I have already stated. It’s a green company and I want it to stay green.”
“We welcome the American interest in developing and supporting Romania’s energy projects, for mutual benefit. Hidoelectrica expresses the desire to collaborate with companies from the United States on large-scale projects, as partners,” said Bogdan Badea, president of the Hidroelectrica board of directors.
“We have ambitious plans in a field that is not only profitable, but also in a continuous development, the direction being that of renewable energy.”
