Electricity has completed the first stage of the merger by absorption of the three electricity distribution companies within the group, which since January 1, 2021 have become Distribuție Energie Electrică România SA (DEER).
The merger by absorption of the electricity distribution companies within the Electrica Group is an important step in the plan to implement the group strategy for 2019-2023, noted Electrica SA in a press release.
By the merger of the electricity distribution companies Transilvania Nord, Transilvania Sud and Muntenia Nord, the new Distribuție Energie Electrică România SA will operate 198.988 km of power lines in 18 counties from three geographical areas of the country, representing 40,7% of Romania’s territory and will serve over 3,8 million users.
“The implementation of the merger of the three distribution companies within the Group will achieve medium- and long-term benefits for all stakeholders. It is a major project that will enable us to make costs more efficient, while accelerating the digitization of the main business processes, as well as improving the operational performance to increase the quality of the services offered,” said Corina Popescu, General Manager of Electrica SA.
DEER is responsible for the distribution of electricity in the following counties: Cluj, Maramures, Satu Mare, Salaj, Bihor, Bistrita-Nasaud, Brasov, Alba, Sibiu, Mures, Harghita, Covasna, Prahova, Buzau, Dambovita, Braila, Galati and Vrancea.
At regional level, there will be eighteen branches, with offices in: Cluj-Napoca, Oradea, Baia Mare, Satu Mare, Bistrita, Zalau, Brasov, Sibiu, Alba Iulia, Targu Mures, Miercurea Ciuc, Sfantu Gheorghe, Ploiesti, Braila, Galati, Buzau, Targoviste and Focsani.
Since 2014, Electrica Group has invested 4,39 billion lei in the modernization and upgrading of electricity distribution networks.
