The National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) extends until March 31, 2021 the period in which household consumers can conclude supply contracts for electricity on the regulated market, Zoltan Nagy-Bege, vice-president of the institution, told Agerpres on Monday.
“This is the period in which household consumers can conclude contracts on the competitive market with their supplier, which extends until March 31, and that price in the competitive offer will apply from January 1. Until now, this term was February 1, and the proposal is to extend for another two months to give both consumers and decision-makers time, because if they have a very large volume of consumers to manage in a month, they will practically not be able to process. The plan is to have this proposal approved by the Regulatory Committee on January 15,” Bege said.
He said he had talks with suppliers, and they agreed with the proposal.
ANRE initiated a draft order in this regard, “considering the impact of the liberalization process of the electricity market, from January 1, 2021 on household customers, the need to ensure good information by suppliers of last resort, as well as ensuring the conditions necessary to conclude electricity supply contracts in compliance with the conditions imposed in the context of the COVID pandemic 19 and for the process to take place for the benefit of the final consumer, the measure was extended to 31 March 2021 supply of electricity so that the domestic customers benefit from the price from the competitive offer,” according to the substantiation note.
