The Directorate for Energy Efficiency within the former Ministry of Economy, Energy and Business Environment (MEEMA) was taken over, de facto, by the new Ministry of Energy – market sources told energynomics.ro.
The former head of the Directorate, Niculae Havrileț, confirmed the information according to which his position as secretary of state within the ministry will change.
“The Directorate for Energy Efficiency will move to the Ministry of Energy… At the time of transfer, my term ends, de jure… I do not know what position I will keep. First of all, a government decision must be issued approving the structure of the ministry – the number of secretaries of state, the directorates, and then the ‘equipping’ begins. But, for the most part, the structure of the old Ministry of Energy will remain,” said Havrileț.
For now, however, things have not changed, de jure. I am still secretary of state, a new government decision must be made. Political discussions are taking place,” he explained.
The Directorate for Energy Efficiency was established at the end of 2019. It took over a large part of the duties of the former similar department within ANRE, including the management of taxes – previously among the duties of the market regulatory body.
