The number of green cars increased at the end of 2020 to 8,902 units, marking an advance of 33.3% compared to the same period in 2019, when 6,678 units were registered, according to the Association of Car Manufacturers and Importers (APIA).
Thus, the share of new electric and hybrid cars in the total local car market increased from 4.2% in 2019 to 7.1% a year later, according to Agerpres.
According to the quoted source, between January and December 2020, most new acquisitions were recorded in the category of hybrid cars, respectively 5,019 units, increasing by 5.2%, compared to 2019.
At the same time, the sales of electric cars registered a jump of 89%, up to 2,846 units, and the plug-in models sold in 1,037 units, more by 158%, compared to the reference period.
The specialized statistics show that, in the top of the sales of 100% electric cars, lead, at the end of last year, Renault – with 857 units, followed by Volkswagen (644), Skoda (354), Hyundai (241), BMW (106 ), smart (101), Peugeot (97), Nissan (90), Mercedes Benz (68) and Tesla (62).
Full hybrid cars sold in Romania, during the analyzed period, see up top Toyota – with 4,252 units, Honda (239), Lexus (184), Hyundai (173), Ford (106), Kia (44) , Subaru (17) and Renault (4).
In the top sales of plug-in cars, the first place is taken, at 12 months, by Mercedes Benz – with 207 units, followed by Volvo (148), BMW (129), Mitsubishi (114), Ford (91), Skoda ( 71), Porsche (67), Hyundai (53), Toyota (26) and Mini (23).
At the level of December 2020, 1,557 green cars were sold in Romania, sales increasing by 62.18% compared to November, when 960 new units were sold. Also, in the reference period, the share of green cars in the total new sales market reached 9.8%, from 7.3%.
