An ecological and energy efficient railway system would have an important role in decarbonizing transport, says the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Cătălin Drulă.
Thus, Romania has aligned its strategic objectives with European environmental policies and the projects proposed in the Transport Operational Program and in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan reflect these objectives, Cătălin Drulă told European Transport Ministers, who debated the modernization of rail transport of the Union.
”Romania proposes the development of a balanced, economically and energetically efficient, competitive railway system, through investments in the rehabilitation and significant modernization of the national and cross-border railway infrastructure, within the TEN-T network, and the modernization of the rolling stock. Also, the connectivity of the railway transport with the other modes of transport is pursued, including with the urban and suburban transport,” it is shown in the release of the ministry.
At the same time, Romania promotes rail transport as a sustainable mode of transport and takes measures to ensure fair and accessible mobility in all regions and for all passengers, said Cătălin Drulă.
