This year’s “Scrap for appliances” program will begin on May 14 with the registration stage of the beneficiaries, and from May 21 the beneficiaries can start purchasing new equipment in exchange for handing over an old one, announced the Minister of Environment, Waters and Forests, Barna Tanczos.
“This week we are launching the ‘Scrap for appliances’ program. Friday (May 14 – e.n.) is the first day that beneficiaries can enroll in the program. This year’s budget is 75 million lei and we expect a very large number of beneficiaries – over 200,000, on nine product categories: washing machines, dishwashers, refrigerators, tumble driers, air conditioners, television sets, vacuum cleaners, laptops and tablets. We have changed the energy class categories, because at at European level, these classifications changed at the end of 2020. It was necessary to reclassify the new equipment so that it complies with the requirements and the European Regulation,” the minister said, quoted by Agerpres.
“At the last edition there were problems when registering the beneficiaries. The system failed, which is why we rethought this system and, in the first phase, the beneficiaries will be registered in the computer system,” added Barna Tanczos.
This year’s edition of the “Scrap for home appliances” program will have a budget of 75 million lei, almost double the previous session, in 2019, when the budget was of 40 million lei.
