The European Union offers Romania the opportunity to change its energy strategy, in order to reduce the impact of carbon emissions, so that in addition to the PV systems in the residential segment, which in recent years has proved its growing appetite for these services, the municipal segment will develop, too, said Adrian Paraschiv, Country Manager Photomate, at the conference “Digitalization and Energy Efficiency – Cluj- Napoca”, organized by Energynomics.
“Municipalities have a building fleet that can be used for green energy generation. Authorities can turn to the private sector at any time to discuss ideas and technologies to use in projects for green energy generation. Cluj-Napoca City Hall has already started such a campaign and I am happy to salute this! I hope that more and more mayors in the country will have such initiatives,” he said.
Photomate is involved in numerous solar energy and energy storage projects, and is present in all European countries, from the Nordic countries to Bulgaria, with the last open representation office in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Being present in several countries, we had the opportunity to see how each one evolves, and in recent years, at least during the last year, Poland has acquired an extraordinary appetite for the development of such projects.
Like Romania, Poland has a support system for roof photovoltaic installations on residential buildings. Ukraine follows, and, surprisingly, in 2020, the Baltic countries also had an extraordinary evolution. Unfortunately, Romania is somehow behind and this is because of the absence of large-scale projects. In Romania, in the last two years, we have not developed any large or very large photovoltaic projects. Although Romania has reached its target for renewables, this goal has been achieved with wind and hydro resources. In this context, Romania’s potential is very high, given the very good geographical position, which gives it the ability to become an exporter of green energy”, Paraschiv added.
