Renovatio has major plans in the field of electric mobility, as the network started in 2016 has today almost 300 e-charging points in the big cities and main transport corridors, to exceed 400 charging points by the end of 2021, said Alexandru Teodorescu, Managing Partner Renovatio, during the conference “Digitalization and Energy Efficiency – Cluj- Napoca”, organized by Energynomics.
“We are now covering more than 2.500 km of the Romanian transport corridors and we have seen that the solutions already implemented are not enough. We have turned to build e-charging stations every 80 km, to provide the greatest possible comfort for those who choose electric transportation, and at this point, their number has increased. The direction of development will be, first of all, to increase the number of charging points in transit zones, but also to open new multi-charge points on the main corridors,” Teodorescu said.
Renovatio has benefited since 2017 from a project co-financed by the EU through the Connecting Europe Facility – Transport program (CEF), which has allowed it to accelerate the development of its network, in particular along the main Pan-European TEN-T transport network corridors.
“As for urban strategy, we look at areas where customers are charging their car. So far, the focus has been on shopping centers, parking lots, hotels, restaurants – areas where cars stay at least 1-2 hours for charging. But, as with transit zones, we have seen that this approach is becoming insufficient. That is why our strategy for urban development is to create charging hubs with at least 4-5 fast and ultra-fast charging points to cover the needs of those who use the electric car for business. In commercial areas, we will install as many AC (alternating current) normal charging points as possible, as the customer can leave his car for a longer period of time.”
European statistics show that a car parked over 90% of its lifetime. ”We will provide AC charging solutions for urban congestion areas –blocks of flats, where it is very difficult to bring [enough] energy, although you have rented the parking place. By next month, we will launch two types of subscriptions, one dedicated to this type of customer, who need overnight e-charging at very good rates, and the second type for customers using the electric car for business purposes, those who need fast charging and drive for long distances during the day. For them, we will use DC charging (direct current) via fast and ultra-fast stations,” he added.
“In the next few years, we will also install ultra-fast charging stations over 150 kW to address those in transit who are users of the new generation of electric vehicles. Our target is for such a vehicle to spend less than 15-20 minutes for e-charging.”
Renovatio, however, focuses on all alternative fuels.
“In the first phase, we intend to open large, multi-barge stations in transit areas, where to offer at least 10-15 fast and ultra-fast charging points, but also other solutions such as compressed natural gas (CNG) and, in the future, solutions for hydrogen supply. We have submitted projects and we are trying to obtain financing for the production of green hydrogen, based on renewable sources so that the carbon footprint of those who will use hydrogen solutions in the future is as small as possible. I am thinking in particular to freight transport – lorries and vans – which have a significant impact in terms of pollutant emissions”.
