The distribution company Delgaz Grid has started a large investment, of approximately 3 million lei, for the replacement of medium voltage cables and the modernization of 4 transformer stations on the route Durău – Cabana Fântânele – Cabana Dochia, from Ceahlău National Park, Neamț County.
The work has a special complexity and is to be completed by the end of the year. All operations must be performed with hand tools and equipment, and the installation of cables at a depth of 1.2 meters can not be performed with machinery, so that the impact on the environment is as small as possible.
Even if the materials and equipment were transported by air to certain fixed points on the mountain route, they must be brought daily to the work areas on the trails, only through the effort of people. A team of 30 people was allocated to complete this work, on a site that has a level difference of approximately 1,000 meters between Durău resort and Cabana Dochia.
One of the main objectives of the team working on the mountain is the minimal impact on the environment by dislocating the soil from the cable routes, the daily management of waste and transporting them in specially arranged spaces, etc.
In the transformation stations in Durău, Fântânele and Dochia, construction works will be carried out by restoring concrete surfaces and painting, and some medium voltage equipment will be replaced in order to operationalize the SCADA system, which will allow the execution of remote maneuvers, from the Dispatcher Center.
Through the works carried out within this investment in the Ceahlau National Park, Delgaz Grid will secure the power supply of some key points at national level for telecommunications and meteorology, being installed backup cables, so that in case of damage the consumption can be taken on a alternative solution.
This year, Delgaz Grid has budgeted investments of 612 million lei (126 million euros), a priority for the modernization and expansion of natural gas and electricity distribution networks. The budget allocated to investments is 11% higher than the previous year, being also the largest in the last 16 years, since E.ON entered the Romanian energy market.
