The price of electricity on the spot market of the OPCOM exchange (Day Ahead Market – DAM) averaged 289 lei per MWh in May 2021, by 140.6% more than the price recorded in May last year, respectively 120 lei per MWh, according to the monthly report posted on the stock exchange operator’s website.
The total value of transactions was of 696.9 million lei, increasing by 188% compared to May 2020 (241.8 million lei).
Also, the volume of transactions increased by 19.4%, to 2,366,562 MWh, according to Agerpres.
The market share of DAM was 54.8%, up 9%. In other words, more than half of the country’s net energy consumption was traded on DAM in May.
About 366 participants were registered on the OPCOM spot market, of which 275 were active.
The Day Ahead Market (DAM) is a component of the wholesale electricity market on which firm hourly electricity transactions are made with delivery on the day following the trading day.
Since 2014, the Day Ahead Market in Romania has been operating coupled with similar markets in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
