Unit 1 of the Cernavoda nuclear power plant returned to nominal power on Sunday night to Monday, Nuclearelectrica announces.
Unit 1 of Cernavoda NPP operated at low power, starting with 1:00, on September 18, 2021, in order to perform repair works on equipment from the classic part, the works can be performed only with the unit at low power.
The controlled power reduction and the execution of the works were performed in complete safety according to the applicable procedures.
The Cernavoda nuclear power plant ensures the safe operation of Nuclear Units 1 and 2, each with an installed production capacity of 700 MW. The two reactors at Cernavoda provide approximately 20% of Romania’s energy needs.
Unit 1 of Cernavoda NPP was put into commercial operation on December 2, 1996, and Unit 2 on September 28, 2007.
