The number of electric and hybrid vehicles to be financed this year through the Rabla Plus Program is estimated at 12,000, compared to the 3,550 units registered in 2020, according to data presented on Thursday by the Vice President of the Environment Fund Administration (AFM), Ion Vasile.
“The Ministry of Environment, through the Administration of the Environment Fund, is the main partner of electro-mobility and the car industry in Romania. Budgets have increased from year to year, If in 2019 1,700 electric and hybrid vehicles were financed, in 2020 they were 3,550 financed, and this year we estimate around 12,000 vehicles. So far, 9,750 applications for electric and hybrid vehicles have been registered,” he stressed, according to Agerpres.
The AFM representative added that another important program refers to the development of the infrastructure that includes charging stations for environmentally friendly cars.
“Also, one of the major objectives is the development of recharging infrastructure. So far, funding from the Environmental Fund Administration has gone to 200 recharging stations for electric vehicles. Due to the launch of the new Financing Guide in consultation we have a session of financing for Administrative – Territorial Units where we have available 500 million lei, plus we have an approved state aid scheme for economic operators where we have allocated 50 million euros. It is a session that we will release early next year,” Ion Vasile also said.
The Rabla Plus Program grants two types of eco-labels: 45,000 lei for full electric cars and 20,000 lei for plug-in hybrid cars, but not more than 50% of the value of the new car.
At the same time, people who give up an old, polluting car and buy an electric vehicle benefit from both the scrapping premium granted by the Classic Scrap Program, worth 7,500 lei, and the eco-label allocated under the Scrap Plus Program.
Also, the amount of financing for electric motorcycles is of 5,500 lei, and for people who want to buy an electric motorcycle and hand over a used car, the eco-label can be combined with the scrapping premium of 5,500 lei.
