Garanti BBVA Romania granted a financing of EUR 4.5 million to the manufacturer Softronic SRL for building two new electric locomotives. Softronic recently announced that it has already delivered four electric locomotives to Sweden and that it will deliver soon two more units.

The recently granted financing for building clean transportation railway solutions is the third in the history of Garanti BBVA – Softronic banking relationship, following two other loans granted in 2014 and 2018. The previous loans were also aimed at facilitating green investments.

“Garanti BBVA Romania continues to support as a financier the local business environment and local entrepreneurs’ investment projects. We are very proud to join forces with Softronic once again and we will continue to be a long-term reliable partner for local businesses. Every green project we add to our portfolio is a success for us and is our goal to support as many environmentally friendly investment initiatives as possible,” said Çağri Memişoğlu, Deputy General Manager at Garanti BBVA Romania.

“Without support from a bank, investment and production activities cannot be sustained. For us, Garanti BBVA has always been a good partner with whom we have completed important projects,” stated Ionel Ghiță, administrator of Softronic.

The locomotives produced by Softronic are designed to tow freight trains with heavy wagons that can operate on railways with high slopes, wet or covered with leaves, ice and heavy snow.
