Phoenix Contact has launched ‚Digital Factory Now’, a new integrated concept helping companies to streamline their production. Thus, the data sets are used to “build the models of tomorrow’s production”, said Cătălin Lepinzean, Business Development Manager, Phoenix Contact, during the conference “Digitalization and Energy Efficiency – Sibiu”, organized by Energynomics.
“’Digital Factory Now’ is focused on some extremely interesting concepts. Energy efficiency is, perhaps, more present and more important today than ever, because we need to reduce and control our energy consumption. Also, our production can be better customized, smartly relying on interconnected equipment to reach the area of IoT for industry, and everything related to services and software applications.
Factories generally tend towards a decentralized model, in which communication from each level of production, from each piece of equipment and machinery, must be as fast as possible, directly in ERP systems, in Cloud-based applications. For the ‘Digital Factory Now’ concept, we need a few elements, primarily related to the data infrastructure. It must be stable, interconnected as easily as possible, so that the collection, storage and evaluation of this data can take place efficiently and securely. We have to use this data and build the production models of tomorrow”, he added.
“In terms of data transport, we rely on a vast portfolio of equipment and know-how in the field of networking. We also provide the necessary consultancy in the realization of these data networks and everything comes bundled with the necessary applications for starting, diagnosing and scanning these networks”. Everything is supported by smart data networks and the necessary equipment in the IoT area and related services.

“We come not only with simple equipment but also with the related consultancy in setting up the networks. Obviously, all these things come with the software part, which is also easy to install, to have a better image and diagnosis of the network part”, he added.
Phoenix Contact, a German technology manufacturer founded in 1923, specializes in connectivity equipment and automation systems and comes with turnkey solutions and data collection, easy to adapt and install.
‘Digital Factory Now’, the company’s new concept, focuses primarily on energy efficiency. “We have the problem to streamline all production or consumption processes, to reduce our carbon footprint, energy costs, obviously using all these production solutions from photovoltaic sources. Everything must lead to a digital concept. We call it ‘Digital Factory Now’ because we address mainly the manufacturers, but the concepts can be extrapolated to the level of local authorities, etc. One of the targets would be, for example, the complete customization of the production processes, which must be economically viable, even up to the level of production of a single copy”, added Cătălin Lepinzean.
