E.ON Romania can last a few weeks until it registers loses, if it does not receive the money from state in time after customers bills’ compensatations, said on Wednesday Volker Raffel, CEO of the company, according to Agerpres.

He was asked how long a large supplier could last in the market until it entered losses, given that there is a risk that the state will return the money for compensation only at the end of winter, not monthly, as required by law.

“November was the first month in which we had to reduce our bills, which we did. Now we are ready with the necessary documentation (to recover our money from the state). In 30 days we should have the money in our account. “It is true that if the (money recovery scheme, ed.) does not work properly, we can last a few weeks, not months,” said the head of the energy company.

Raffel pointed out that this is not valid for the whole market, but only for a large company like E.ON.

“There is a need to clarify the law enforcement rules. There is openness in this regard. We are now discussing what observations we have on what we need to do and I am optimistic that these clarifications will be made and it is important that they be made,” Raffel added.

According to the Capping law, bills’ cuts wi be applied directly, and the energy suppliers will later recover their money from the state.

Energy companies have expressed concern that the money will not be returned on time, which will create problems in the market and will even lead to the bankruptcy of some suppliers.

On the other hand, the Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu, offered assurances to the companies that they will receive their money on time, meaning within 30 days from the issuance of the invoices.
