Romanian General Prosecutor’s Office announced on Tuesday that it has opened a criminal case against the incident that took place in the rostrum of the Parliament a day ago, when the Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu, was abruptly attacked by the AUR leader George Simion while speaking from the rostrum of the Chamber of Deputies.
The General Prosecutor’s Office announced that in this case it was notified ex officio, and the Criminal Investigation and Forensic Section opened a criminal case for the offenses of assault and disturbing public order and peace.
“In fact, following the press releases published on 7.02.2022, it was noted that the appointed George Simion, Member of the Romanian Parliament, during the meeting of the Chamber of Deputies of the same day went to the plenary of the Chamber, he supported the speech on the simple motion against him, aggressing him,” the Public Ministry transmitted.
The leader of the AUR deputies, George Simion, assaulted on Monday, in the tribune of the plenum of the Chamber of Deputies, the Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu, while he was giving his speech in the simple motion opened by USR against him.
