Nuclear facilities on the territory of Ukraine are in a safe state and there is no danger, and the measurements carried out did not signal exceeding the radiation level, informs the National Commission for the Control of Nuclear Activities (CNCAN).

“Regarding some press materials regarding the statements of the Ukrainian company Energoatom, regarding the radiation monitoring system and the forest fire extinguishing service in the Chernobyl plant area, the National Commission for the Control of Nuclear Activities (CNCAN) makes the following clarifications: The failure of the automatic radiation monitoring system in the exclusion zone of the Chernobyl plant is not a reason to increase the radioactivity of the environment. The system for monitoring the radioactivity of the environment in the territory of Ukraine is operating normally and does not indicate exceedings from normal values. At present, all nuclear installations at Chernobyl and on the territory of Ukraine are safe and there is no danger to the environment or the population. At the same time, we note that the measurements performed at the national level confirm normal values of the radiation level and no exceedances are reported even at the level of the Ukrainian territory,” says CNCAN, according to Agerpres.

CNCAN emphasizes that, through the Operational Center for Emergency Situations, it is constantly monitoring the evolution of the situation in terms of radiological monitoring. In Romania, the radiation level is constantly monitored through the National Network for the Surveillance of Environmental Radioactivity (RNSRM), within the National Agency for Environmental Protection (ANPM). The specialists from the National Radioactivity Reference Laboratory verify the monitored data 24/7 and transmit them to the International Atomic Energy Agency, so as to ensure a prompt information of the national and international decision makers, as well as of the population.
