CE Hunedoara: 11 companies from four countries were interested in buying the Mintia Thermal Power Plant

A number of 11 companies from four countries have expressed interest in buying the Mintia Thermal Power Plant, and the electricity producer will be put up for sale, through a public auction, on July 15, at a price of 91.23 million euros.

“We have potential buyers, with whom we have signed confidentiality agreements. There are about 11 Romanian and foreign companies (Korea, Jordan, Canada, ed.). Obviously we will invite everyone and we will let them know the date We are waiting for other offers from other companies,” told Agerpres the judicial administrator of the Hunedoara Energy Complex (CEH), Emil Gros, associate coordinator of Expert Insolvenţă SPRL.

Applicants will have to provide a guarantee of EUR 10 million. The price difference must be paid within 120 days of the auction, according to Agerpres.

On the other hand, the future owner of the thermal power plant has the obligation to build a new energy capacity of 800 MWh in the band, on methane gas and renewable energy, by the end of 2026.

“We have provided, at the request of the Ministry of Energy, as an obligation on the part of the investor, to put in place, to build a new power plant on methane gas and renewable energy. That is the difference, that it is not like bankruptcy or -a regular sale in insolvency – where a buyer is sought, here our intention and that of the state is to find an investor,” the judicial administrator specified.

The Mintia thermal power plant will be put up for sale, as a whole, on July 15, the public auction will start at a price of 91.23 million euros, excluding VAT, the Institution of the Prefect of Hunedoara announced on Monday.

If the asset is not sold, the auction will resume on July 29, 2022, then on August 12, 2022 and then on August 26, 2022, under the same price and location conditions.

The Mintia thermal power plant was shut down in March 2021 because it ran out of coal and staff were laid off. The thermal power plant is part of the CEH and owns land with an area of ​​329.8 ha, constructions, movable goods and related equipment.
