Romanian Government approved in Wednesday’s meeting the Memorandum by which the European Investment Bank will support Romania in the implementation of the projects financed from the funds allocated for 2021 – 2027 projects, informs the Ministry of Investments and European Projects (MIPE).

Also, the eligibility rules of the expenses that the beneficiaries can make have been approved.

The EIB will support Romania in increasing the administrative capacity of managing authorities, intermediate bodies and other public beneficiaries to identify, prepare and implement projects. The institution will also support the management of the process of closing the Operational Programs financed within the 2014-2020 programming period and will provide advice to project teams and departments involved in project preparation, management and implementation. At the same time, it will provide support for identifying governance issues, simplifying and streamlining the national legislative and regulatory framework for the absorption of EU funds and meeting the favorable conditions, according to Agerpres.

EIB support for the implementation of operational programs will consist of providing experts to support project preparation and implementation, methodological support for the preparation of guidelines for project preparation and implementation.

Also, according to the Memorandum, the Romanian Government will be able to request services from the EIB in any other sector or field.

“The funds needed to finance technical assistance projects are provided under the provisions on the financial management of European funds for the programming period 2021-2027. In the period 2014-2020, Romania received technical assistance through the MoUs signed with the EIB, the World Bank and The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.  The rules on eligibility of expenditure have been approved, within the limits set by European regulations and the content of operational programs,” the ministry said in a statement.
