Wiren opened its first office in Serbia last year, said Dor Marian, Managing Partner Wiren, at the “Regional Approach – Belgrade 2022” conference organized by Energynomics.
”We are trying to bring this market to maturity, to help people get more informed how solar energy – in our case – can help their life, and for sure, everybody will make a step forward. A lot of legislation will be in place, there is time for that, and in Romania there were years of discussions, before things suddenly skyrocketed. There will be challenges, but it is good to have such events, it is good to learn from others’ experiences. There are energy associations with international experience which can advise the government on how to do it better,” said Dor Marian.
“We are trying to boost the market by setting up a lot of internal procedures, to reach as much of the potential of the Serbian market as possible and after that to boost the entire market, to support any installation company that wants to be part of this great vision, to bring energy to the people. From what we have seen in other countries, for sure in Serbia the energy prices will increase. Unfortunately, last year we were speaking in some Romanian conferences about the increase in prices in 2022, and, look, it happened! The Day Ahead Market has reached 500 euro/MWh (in Romania). Even if Serbia is not part of the ETS system, and the cost of carbon won’t affect the pricing, as much as there is a connection with the EU market, all the cheap energy will be exported to the EU, and when you’ll need energy, it will be imported, more expensively. So, in a way or another, you will align with the cost of carbon here, as well,” he said.
At the same time, a solar park would amortize faster, in just 4-5 years.
The prices will go on for the next 3-5 years, said Dor Marian. And then, because a lot of renewables will be present in the market, a new wave of investments in storage and optimizing the systems and consumption will be needed, he concluded.
The “Regional Approach – Belgrade 2022” conference was organized by Energynomics and its partners ABB Romania and Wiren, with the support of the Romanian Energy Center – REC and the Energy Community.
