Romanian Energy Regulatory Authority has modified the regulation regarding the last resort supply (LRS) of gas, for customers who are left without a supplier, so that the invoice strictly reflects the costs, according to a press release from ANRE.

Through the approved Order, substantive changes and additions were made to the current regulatory framework to protect end customers, the most important being the introduction, for the periods in which support measures are imposed by primary legislation, of an alternative system through which all LRS (Last Resort Suppliers) take over in a non-discriminatory manner, by monthly rotation, automatically or upon request, the places of consumption of customers which end up in the situation of not being assured of the supply of natural gas from any source.

The new norm envisages supplementing the number of LRSs designated by ANRE, from a minimum of 5 to a minimum number of 7, in order to reduce the pressure on those who will take over, by rotation, during the period when support measures are imposed, the places of consumption of customers who arrive in the situation of not having the supply of natural gas from any source.

The invoicing of customers taken over at a supply price under the LR regime will strictly reflect the costs incurred by LRS.

The method of taking over consumption sites with an annual consumption of less than or equal to 28,000 MWh as a result of the termination of the supply contract concluded between the current supplier/LRS and the final customer has been completed, in the sense of including the possibility as for consumption sites for which the end customers unilaterally denounced the supply contract to be possible to take over, but only at their request, and not automatically as in the other cases of termination of the contract.
