The gas distribution company Bulgargaz will launch three tenders for liquefied natural gas on Tuesday, with the idea of avoiding the occurrence of problems in the gas supply in the winter and ensuring long-term energy security, said the general director of the state company Denitsa Zlateva, Reuters reports.
Bulgargaz will start an auction for liquefied gas deliveries in November and December, another auction for deliveries during 2023 and the third for a period of ten years, Denitsa Zlateva said, according to Agerpres.
In parallel, Bulgaria is holding talks with the Russian group Gazprom for the resumption of gas supplies, which were interrupted by Moscow in April after the authorities in Sofia refused to pay in rubles, but for now there is no notable progress, said the Bulgarian minister of Energy, Rossen Hristov.
Currently, Bulgaria, which is almost completely dependent on Russian gas imports, provides about 30% of its needs with deliveries from Azerbaijan and buys the rest from the market.
