The Eaton company launched on the market a model of UPS (uninterruptible power supply) that can also work as a battery and which, thanks to the high level of efficiency, can generate savings of up to 10,000 euros per year, said Cătălin Crivineanu, PQ&IT Channel at Eaton Electric.
“Our UPS has an efficiency of 97%. In the market we generally find equipment with an efficiency of 95%. But just from this 2% difference, you can save 10,000 or 90,000 euros over five years. Today, such equipment has become very important because the more efficient it is, the less money you lose,” said Crivineanu, at the conference “Sustainable Communities – Iasi”, organized by Energynomics and SmartiCity.
The UPS model created by Eaton ensures the supply of electrical energy to the equipment when the electrical grid is unavailable and can protect the grid from voltage variations. At the same time, the device can also be used as a power supply.
“It’s a smarter battery. During the day it is charged from the panels, and at night, when the battery is charged to 100%, the command is given to the UPS to introduce the stored energy into the network. Unfortunately, there are still situations when the voltage drops 25 times a day,” Crivineanu added.

Eaton has also created an application that allows the blocking of cyber-attacks against companies, which have increased significantly in recent times.
