The prices of energy-efficient homes will continue to rise because all the technology elements they contain cannot be used in other markets and, consequently, they have no way of getting cheaper, said Gheorghe Dragne, representative of the non-profit association Consiliul Romanian for Green Buildings (ROGBC), during the conference “New wave of renewables”, organized by Energynomics.
“The prices will not decrease, but will go up because the technology elements do not have other markets to be able to acquire comfortable prices,” said Dragne. He added that, from the perspective of customers who are interested in buying such homes, even the various bank programs to finance the purchase of green houses are not enough, and some potential buyers are waiting for some form of help from the state to afford such housing.
But while the supply of classic homes is high, many customers find it difficult to make a choice. One element that could change the opinion of some customers, however, is the high price of energy.
“Probably the volatility of energy prices will change the mindset of buyers. The term sustainability is very comprehensive, but it raises problems of understanding and education. There is room for education at all levels. The things that can be financed and that can be quantified as green must be done, so that the goal is achieved,” added Dragne.
