The number of prosumers connected to the electrical distribution network has exceeded 23,785, claims ANRE, which estimates that we will have over 30,000 prosumers by year-end, according to a press release.

“In order to reach or exceed the renewable energy target assumed by Romania, ANRE has adopted a regulatory framework to stimulate prosumers of energy from renewable sources to produce, consume, store and sell their excess production of electricity,” say ANRE officials.

“I can tell you that the number of prosumers connected to the electricity distribution network has increased since the end of 2019, when there were 303 prosumers registered, to 23,785 on August 31, 2022. This was possible due to changes and additions brought quickly to ANRE orders, the provisions of which come in support of future users of the electricity networks, especially prosumers,” the press release signed by the president of the authority, Dumitru Chiriță, states.

According to the cited source, the largest installed power is found in Iflov (24 MW, 2,200 consumers), county followed by Timiș (12 MW, 1,200 consumers), Arad (10 MW, 1,000 consumers), Bucharest (9 MW, 770 consumers) , Dolj (8 MW, 870 consumers), Harghita (7.2 MW, 1,000 consumers), Argeș, Constanța, Mureș and Bihor (each with 6.4-6.7 MW).
