The subject of energy cards was discussed in the Government meeting on Wednesday, and they will be distributed from February 1, announced the Minister of Investments and European Funds, Marcel Boloş.
“In today’s Government meeting, we discussed two essential and important topics for voucher or energy card beneficiaries, as well as the issue of the state of up-to-date implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. Related to the first topic, the Government adopted a simple ordinance with four important changes for energy card beneficiaries,” said Marcel Boloş at the briefing held at the end of the Executive session.
He explained that the mechanism is relatively simple and will take place from Monday, January 16th until February 1st. During this period, affidavits will be distributed for situations in which the beneficiaries appear at the same address.
He also offered some terms regarding the price compensation aid for energy bills. Thus, starting from January 16 and until February 1, the letter will be distributed to the owners’ associations, which presents the associations with the methodology for using the debt validation certificate and the model of the debt validation certificate. Marcel Boloş mentioned that there are 152,000 owners’ associations, according to Agerpres.
Between February 1 and February 15, notices will be distributed to those who are removed from the lists because they appear together with other roommates whose average incomes exceed 2000 lei. The minister mentioned that there are 313,000 cases.
“On February 1, 2023, the energy card will be distributed and, as announced by the Prime Minister, March 1 is the reference date so that payments can be made with these amounts that come from the heating aid, but we hope to be able to make a pleasant surprise and advance the date, as mentioned by the Prime Minister, from the date of March 1, to February 20, 2023,” said Marcel Boloş.
The Minister of European Funds emphasized that this energy card is the document that gives the holder the right to use the money for the heating aid, and the instrument will surely reach the beneficiary which needs it.
On January 9, Minister Boloş announced, in a press release, that Romanians which are vulnerable consumers will receive support for the compensation of energy prices in the nominal amount of 1,400 lei, which can be used until December 31, 2023 and will be granted per place of consumption/vulnerable household, in two installments. Thus, 700 lei/semester is granted in February 2023, for the period January 1 – June 30, 2023, and 700 lei/semester, in September 2023, for the period July 1, 2023 – December 31.
