The process of distributing energy cards must be debureaucratized, claims energy expert Corina Murafa, according to News.ro.
“First week of February just passed. The cards would have started to be distributed because the distribution should take place in February. How many of the 2,700,000 were distributed? Did someone inform us? Where is this information? I drew attention to the fact that this act came for approval at the Economic and Social Council – which I am a part of, and even Minister Boloş came to the meeting… we discussed it then and drew his attention to the fact that the process needs to be greatly debureaucratized, because… it is easy to reach the people who already receive social assistance…but they are very few compared to the 2,700,000 who…would be eligible. The others should search themselves, make calls through call centers and so on,” said Corina Murafa.
She specified that a cash sum should have been given to vulnerable families, which would go towards basic needs, including energy.
“My proposal then, which was also the proposal of our non-governmental organizations, but, unfortunately, it was not taken into account at the ministry level, was that this money should cover any energy needs of the household, even more than that, any need. Because energy is a basic need.”
