On Wednesday, the Government adopted a Decision regarding the declaration of the investment project “Natural gas transport pipeline for supplying CET Mintia” as a project of national importance in the field of natural gas.

By building this pipeline, the supply of natural gas to the Thermal Power Plant from Mintia will be ensured.

“Government adopted today, February 15, at the proposal of the Ministry of Energy, the Decision regarding the declaration of the investment project “Natural gas transport pipeline for supplying CET Mintia” as a project of national importance in the field of natural gas”, informs the ministry, according to News.ro.

At the same time, the Ministry of Energy was designated as the competent authority responsible for facilitating and coordinating the authorization procedure for this important investment project.

In order to supply natural gas to the Mintia Thermal Power Plant, it is necessary to expand the National Natural Gas Transport System by constructing the natural gas transport pipeline to supply the Mintia CPP, including electricity supply, cathodic protection and optical fiber.

The proposed pipeline follows the route Hațeg – Băcia – Mintia, and the location of the proposed natural gas transport pipeline is located in the administrative territory of Hunedoara county within the radius of the following territorial administrative units: the cities of Deva, Călan, Hunedoara and the communes of Sântămărie-Orlea, Bretea Română, Băcia, Crutch, Calf.

The realization of the project brings the following benefits: it facilitates the natural gas supply of the new electricity production capacity of 1,700 MWh; creates the conditions for carrying out the modernization project of the Mintia power plant so that it ensures substantial benefits for the national energy system; contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and to the increase of investments in the industry.
