The Executive Director of Bulgaria’s Electricity System Operator ESO, Angelin Tsachev, talked about creating a Trans-Balkan Adriatic Corridor to share green energy among the countries located in the region. The European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) is also involved in this project of transforming over 700 kilometers of power lines from a voltage level of 220 kilovolts (kV) to 400 kV. By the end of this year, ESO will take some concrete steps towards this goal, writes CEEnergy News.

The publication also quotes the Minister of Economy and Industry Nikola Stoyanov, who have said Bulgaria should take advantage of the opportunities provided by the RePowerEU plan to achieve long-term and sustainable results. Among the priorities, there is the decentralization of electricity production, which requires further development of the electricity transmission network to ensure better connectivity between the European countries. As pointed out by Tsachev, Bulgaria should adapt its electricity transmission network for the full integration of renewable energy sources.
