Braşov City Hall signed a contract for the creation of a centralized system for monitoring and controlling road traffic in the municipality, a system that will cost 29.5 million lei without VAT. The project includes a traffic prioritization system with a component dedicated to public transport, dozens of new traffic lights placed at pedestrian crossings or intersections, as well as the installation of hundreds of video cameras and video sensors, according to News.ro.
“Brasov City Hall signed today the contract for the purchase of design services and the execution of works for the investment objective ‘Centralized traffic monitoring and control system in the Municipality of Brasov’, an investment through which the municipality aims to prioritize public transport, streamlining traffic for all participants, establishing a monitoring center and increasing safety on public roads. The contract was signed with the association between Flash Lighting Services (leader) and Urban Scope. The value of this contract is of almost 30 million lei (29,468,500.00 lei without VAT), the project benefiting from financing through the Regional Operational Program. The non-refundable amount of eligible expenses is of 98%. The duration of the project’s implementation is 12 months,” the Braşov City Hall announced on Monday.
Among the objectives of the centralized traffic monitoring and control system in the municipality of Braşov are the management of traffic related to public transport, through the implementation of technical measures and systems, the creation of a traffic monitoring and control center, in order to ensure the streamlining and prioritization of traffic related to public transport and optimizing the use of parking lots by installing parking sensors, including regulating the parking policy.
The project provides for the signaling of 35 new pedestrian crossings and three new intersections, the modernization of traffic signals in another 44 intersections, the installation of 140 video cameras and 249 video sensors.
Also, modern systems for parking management and directing road flows will be implemented by determining in real time the parking capacity in the city, identifying free parking spaces, road information regarding parking spaces (location and inventory in real time ) and the placement of modern means of payment and parking reservations.
