Nuclearelectrica SA announced, in an information sent to the Bucharest Stock Exchange and the Financial Supervisory Authority, that Unit 1 of CNE Cernavodă was automatically disconnected from the National Energy System (NES) on Tuesday afternoon, due to a malfunction in the classical part of the unit, without impact on the nuclear side.
Unit 1 of the Cernavodă Power Plant was automatically disconnected from the National Energy System, due to a breakdown in the conventional part of the unit, without impact on the nuclear part, according to Nuclearelectrica. “The automatic disconnection of Unit 1 as well as the remedial works do not have an impact on the nuclear safety of the reactor, the unit’s personnel, the population and the environment,” said the source cited by News.ro.
“The CNE Cernavodă specialists are investigating the cause that led to the automatic disconnection of Unit 1 from the SEN. Automatic shutdown of Unit 1 occurred safely, with all unit systems operating and responding as designed in such situations. In the following period, remedial works will be carried out in accordance with the specific procedures of CNE Cernavodă, applicable in these situations. The automatic disconnection of Unit 1 as well as the remedial works do not have an impact on the nuclear safety of the reactor, the unit’s personnel, the population and the environment,” the quoted source added.
