Romania does not need “dangerous experiments” in the field of hydrogen production and use and should spend responsibly the European funds at hand, said Vlad Stoicescu, president of the Romanian Association for Sustainable Fuels, at the conference “Hydrogen Project – what is Romania up to”, organised by Energynomics.

“The Hydrogen Strategy is an administrative effort that centralises structural funds for investment at the macro level. We don’t need dangerous experiments. Let’s stimulate European industries, let’s be a bit nationalistic, let’s stimulate [the industry] at least at the continental level and not buy who knows what crap from China that we can’t certify. There are good Chinese products, we have nothing against that. But be careful what we buy with European money. Competitive advantage is not gained by irresponsible investments,” Stoicescu said.

The Association for Sustainable Fuels is preparing a map of companies in Romania that could benefit from the use of hydrogen, and according to Stoicescu, there are 170 potential beneficiaries in the country.

“Unfortunately, many don’t have information about the opportunities,” he added.

Hydrogen is a feasible solution and is the vehicle to implement the Green Deal Industrial Plan. In this plan, electrolysers are to be installed at consumption sites, thus eliminating the need to transport hydrogen from production facilities to beneficiaries.

The conference “Hydrogen Project – what is Romania up to” was organized by Energynomics with the support of our partners Elektra Renewable Support and Horváth.

On this occasion, the Didactic and Pedagogical Publishing House presented the book “Discussions the Hydrogen Energy Vector”, authored by Ioan Iordache, Dumitru Chisăliță, Hans Marius Shuster, Cristian Călin, and Oana Dumitrean, as part of the collection “Academica energie.”
