The General Secretariat of the Government (SGG) recently signed a contract worth over 56 million euro regarding the modernization of the Transelectrica network, said Mircea Abrudean, Secretary General of the Government, during the Future of Governance International Conference 2024 – “Governance challenges in a global ecosystem,” organized by Envisia.
“SGG has two companies in its portfolio, Transgaz and Transelectrica. I would like to refer to a contract I recently signed with Transelectrica, one of the most important investments for the modernization and efficiency of the national electricity transmission network, worth over 56 million euro. SGG is the coordinator for the implementation of the I5 investment – the efficiency, modernization and digitization of the national electricity transmission network, financed through the RePower EU component of the PNRR, and this effort will help Transelectrica in its efforts to have an electric transmission network capable of supporting progressive decarbonization and the increasing integration of renewable sources, guaranteeing at the same time the efficiency and security of the energy supply, respecting the provisions in the field regarding environmental protection and climate change,” said Mircea Abrudean.
Accession to the OECD – the most important country objective
At the same time, Abrudean stated that Romania’s accession to the OECD will represent another anchor of stability and prosperity for Romania
“As you well know, Romania is in full process of joining the OECD, the country’s most important goal after joining NATO and the European Union. The OECD is not only the club of economic elite countries, but also an association of countries that share values and principles, that believe in democracy, the rule of law, human rights and that have an open and transparent market economy. Romania’s accession to the OECD will represent another anchor of stability and prosperity for Romania, which will bring major benefits, such as favorable implications for economic growth and development processes
Sustainable in the medium term, through direct access to OECD assistance and the best analysis, studies and best practices, which means an even better opportunity for rapid development.
“Being a member of the OECD, our country will be seen by financial institutions as having a stable business environment favorable to investors. A constant effect will be Romania’s access to loans and financing under much better conditions,” said the Secretary General of the Government, Mircea Abrudean.
