The legal framework allows us to develop photovoltaic projects at a very good pace, in about a year or a year and a half, depending on the size, of connecting to the grid, compared to other states in Western Europe, where “we are talking about much more years”, said Andrei Manea, executive director of the “Romanian Photovoltaic Industry Association” (RPIA).

He was asked how investors perceive the volatility of the renewable energy market in Romania.

“The predictability of the legislative framework in general, in Romania, is one of the important topics for discussion. I don’t know if it is the main problem, it is a problem, but I would not like to find problems when we meet. From my point of view, Romania remains a very, very attractive country for investors. First of all, the legal framework allows us to develop photovoltaic projects at a very good pace compared to what is happening in the rest of Europe, especially since the change of the legislative framework, when we do not need a plan zonal planning – and then we can develop these photovoltaic parks much faster, in about a year, a year and a half, it depends on the size, it depends on the connection to the grid, compared to other states in Western Europe, where we are talking about many more years So, Romania remains a very attractive market. We are looking at what is happening on the photovoltaic side. We have hundreds of megawatts of capacity built or under construction. This year, I think we are approaching one gigawatt of new installed capacity, combined with last year. So we also have very good parts. On top of these, indeed, other bricks must be laid, so that things are stable in the long term, to make that “large employment” in order to reach our targets and remain a pole of electricity supply in the area”, mentioned Andrei Manea, quoted by Agerpres.

At the same time, he emphasized that currently there is an “effervescence in the renewable energy market” and it is “very good that it is happening”, but this is important to happen in the medium and long term.
