The energy efficiency of the home has become a major concern for many households, with 80% of Romanians stating that they have invested in home thermal insulation projects, the aim being both to reduce unnecessary energy consumption, thus saving money, but also to contribute to protect the environment.
Insulating windows, doors and walls can have a significant impact in preventing heat loss, representing an essential step towards energy efficiency. Thus, double glazed windows are already widely used (88% of homes), but it is interesting to note that many Romanians have carried out, especially in recent years, external wall insulation works (75.7%) or interior (26.6%), combined with roof (22%) or floor insulation (about 15%).
And things don’t stop there. To the question “What additional measures would you take to improve the energy efficiency of the home?”, most Romanians (46.3%) say that they are considering changing the heating system to a more efficient one, 35.7% want to thermally insulate walls, about 22% are considering replacing old windows, and 25.5% are thinking of installing a ventilation system for heat recovery.
These are some of the conclusions of a sociological research carried out for the despre-energie.ro platform, a project supported by the companies Delgaz Grid and E.ON.
According to the study, 45.3% of the homes of those surveyed were subjected to an energy audit, the rest more than half were not. The energy audit provides a detailed assessment of how energy is used and lost in a home, giving homeowners the information they need to make significant improvements. It is also interesting that 74.4% of those who have energy audited homes live in urban areas and only 25.5% in rural areas.
Almost 77% of respondents are considering an investment in renewable energy sources, whether we are talking about photovoltaic panels and/or heat pumps. However, many households are prevented from taking this step, at least at this time, by obstacles such as housing constraints (indicated by 25.8% of respondents) and financial limitations (29.3%). Those who have already made the investment have moderate to high income and a high level of education, suggesting that access to information and financial resources play a crucial role in the adoption of green technologies.
The Despre-energie.ro platform, a project supported by the companies E.ON and Delgaz Grid, was launched in 2020 with the objective of becoming, for electricity and gas consumers, one of the main sources of information and, at the same time, to explain, in a clear and accessible language, the relevant and impactful developments in the energy market, but also to guide readers on their way through this complex universe so that they can make the right decisions regarding everything related to energy and energy sources in their own households.
Energy efficiency advice and recommendations, the most important laws and regulations in the field, an extensive column in which our specialists answer questions from readers, guides on the choice and use of electrical equipment and household appliances, the most important news and novelties, but also rich explanatory multimedia content, are just some of the anchors of the about-energie.ro platform.
The platform was recently relaunched with a new logo and a redesigned, intuitive website to improve the user experience, both on desktop and mobile devices.
