Axpo, the largest producer of renewable energy in Switzerland, has taken the necessary steps to ask the Romanian Government to authorize the investment through which it wants to develop at the “ready to build” stage some electrical energy storage facilities with the help of batteries with a capacity total installed estimated at around 300 MW, according to a decision of the shareholders, obtained by Economica.net.
The Commission for the Examination of Foreign Direct Investments (CEISD), subordinate to the Government, analyzes the intentions of foreign direct investments in our country. The shareholders estimate that the storage projects will need a budget of around 25 million euros, money secured from financing within the Axpo group, capital increases, external sources – European financing programs, financing granted by banking institutions.
The electricity storage projects would be developed, mainly, in the period 2024 – 2029.
Axpo Energy Romania wants to develop them either in its own name, or by setting up separate entities dedicated to these projects, or by buying the entities that develop these projects, but also by other means, through which the company can secure a portfolio of storage projects.
