Building partnerships for energy transition is a central objective for Romania, said Alina Jalea, State Advisor for Climate Change and Energy Transition in the Romanian Government.
“The purpose of these partnerships is to determine how we get from A to B. Of all these partnerships, the Green Deal Industrial Plan will carry the most weight,” Jalea said at the Energy Strategy Summit 2024, organized by Energynomics.
The government wants to obtain a commitment from the economic sector, encouraging every actor to contribute to the energy transition. Romania is advanced in the field of carbon storage, which is a priority objective under the Green Deal Industrial Plan. In addition to the energy transition, Jalea underlined that Romania has many open infringement cases on the environment and energy, which is a priority for the government.
“We are seeing what the trends are, looking at the Green Deal, the Net Zero Industry Act and trying to mobilize our forces to know our capabilities. We will do a detailed scan of the whole economy to identify sectors that we can decarbonize, those that lend themselves to sustainable growth and those that we may want to support more, connecting them to the economic chains in Europe,” Jalea added.
