ENGIE Romania, supplier of natural gas, electricity and technical services, producer of renewable energy, obtained the EDGE Move certification, being the first company in the energy field in Romania, for the significant progress in promoting gender equality in the workplace. This certification attests to the fact that ENGIE Romania has a solid framework of effective policies and practices to ensure a diverse and inclusive work environment.
Essential to achieving this recognition is the company’s use of EDGE Empower, the technology solution that prepares organizations for EDGE certification. EDGE Move represents the second of three certification levels, demonstrating an organization’s progress in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I).
The certification process involves a rigorous, third-party review of pay equity, effectiveness of policies and practices, and inclusiveness of organizational culture. As an integral part of the evaluation process, statistical data is analyzed, practices and policies are evaluated, and employees of the organization answer a comprehensive questionnaire that assesses how they perceive career development opportunities within the company.
Currently, in ENGIE Romania, 32% of the total number of employees is occupied by women, and 46% occupy managerial positions. In 2023, 184 women joined the company, representing 41% of all new hires. The commitment to gender equality was also reflected in internal mobility, with approximately 45% of eligible employees being women.
ENGIE’s global target is that by 2030, managerial positions will be filled by 40% women and 60% men.
ENGIE Romania also addresses the gender imbalance at operational and top management level and improves the representation of women both in the basic activities and those directly responsible for the profitability of the business.
“Advancement to EDGE Move certification is a confirmation of ENGIE’s deliberate commitment and prioritization of creating an inclusive and respectful workplace. We appreciate the company’s firm commitment to gender equality, which is essential for promoting sustainable business growth. We look forward to seeing its continued progress and impact in the coming years,” said Aniela Ungureșan, Founder of EDGE.
“We are pleased to announce that this year we have advanced to EDGE Move certification, thus confirming our continued commitment to gender equality and creating an inclusive workplace. This achievement reflects our joint efforts to promote opportunities and fair treatment for all employees We are confident that, through sustained efforts, we will reach new standards in the future,” added Nicolas Richard, CEO, ENGIE Romania.
