Romania has the “best” energy mix in Europe, but a “clear” vision of development in the area of green energy storage is needed, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said on Tuesday, when asked about energy price increases recorded in this period with hot days. He was informed about the crisis situation on the balancing market. Ciolacu blamed, according to some sources, the lack of storage in the national energy strategy.

“I tell you honestly, it is not enough to be a minister or prime minister. (…) When you see that you have European funds of billions of euros for the investment area in green energy, you gather your specialists and do some calculations on what installed power will how much will Romania produce in a year, how long will it take for these projects to reach maturity. We have reached, on green energy, to be among the leading producers in Europe, I think, surpassing the Cernavodă reactors. Well, Mr. Minister , when you launched these programs, through PNRR, through national programs, through the modernization fund, your mind could not think that you need a storage area and that you will produce, when you have wind and sun, more than you consume?!,” said Ciolacu, according to Agerpres.

He emphasized that Romania has the “best mix” of energy in Europe, but it still does not have a “clear” development vision.
