OSCAR Downstream, the largest Romanian independent fuel distribution company, launches for the first time for B2B customers in Romania the payment facility via mobile phone, in a partnership with Eurowag, provider of integrated mobility and payment services for transport companies.
The mobile phone payment option (pay at the pump) can be used by drivers in the OSCAR Drive network, dedicated to the car fleets of B2B customers, which counts 30 units strategically distributed on the main commercial routes in the country.
“OSCAR Downstream has a business model built on agility and innovation,” says Nicolae Bănică, CEO of OSCAR Downstream.
“Our history and brand are associated with concepts and services that we introduced for the first time on the Romanian market, such as the DIESELpoint indoor stations, launched since 2004, the OSCAR Drive transit stations or the OSCAR fleet cards, designed with technology unique contactless for the profile market. We are happy to expand our service offering to our over 5,000 B2B customers by partnering with Eurowag, which has an impressive portfolio of integrated and secure smart solutions for commercial road transport in Europe. We continue to invest in state-of-the-art technology solutions that generate value and efficiency for our customers.”
Pay at the pump is an increasingly popular facility globally. According to Eurowag, more than 10,000 filling stations in Europe currently provide this service.
“The mobile phone payment option improves the consumer’s experience at the pump, generating more fluidity and security when completing transactions. It is also a step forward in our sustainability efforts, as it helps us reduce our environmental impact and carbon footprint. Receipts are generated digitally, payments do not require additional resources and infrastructure, such as plastic cards or ATMs and POS, and the process is much more energy efficient,” adds Lucian Haranguș, Sales & Retail Director OSCAR Downstream .
Eurowag’s mobile payment application is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. After downloading to a smartphone, the user registers and enters the necessary data, including payment information. When the user arrives at one of the OSCAR Drive stations, he selects the respective station, the chosen pump through the application and can turn on the power.
Once the maximum allowed value for fuel is reached, the pump stops automatically and the driver can continue on his way.
Payments made by each driver are centralized in real time in the customer account, on the digital platform available to companies that buy fuel from OSCAR Downstream.
“The technical solution for this project was made by Petrosol, the main software provider dedicated to the oil and gas industry in Romania. The Petrosol team’s expertise ensured a flawless integration between Eurowag’s mobile payment system and OSCAR Downstream’s retail tax system,” also says Cristian Bălulescu, General Manager, Petrosol.
