WindEurope: Number of wind turbine orders grows 25% in Q2, Romania ordered 30 turbines

The number of wind turbine orders grew to a total of 4.9 GW across 13 countries, of which 660 MW were for offshore wind, while Romania ordered 30 turbines of 6-7MW, according to WindEurope’s Wind Turbines Orders Q2 2024 report consulted by Energynomics.

The total ordered capacity was up 5% in Q2 2024 as compared to Q1 and 25% year-on-year, as compared to Q2 2023. At the same time, Vestas received 48% (or 1,782 MW) of all the disclosed ordered capacity, followed by Nordex (30%), GE (21%) and Goldwind (1%).

Germany led ordered capacity with 1.3 GW, followed by Spain (937 MW) and Lithuania (283 MW).

All but two disclosed orders reported the inclusion of an Operation and Maintenance (O&M) deal.

WindEurope tracked firm orders for 86 wind farms in Q2 2024.

Also, in Q2 onshore orders were up 33% over Q1, 2024 and 26% abopve the average of the previous four quarters. The order for the 660 MW offshore park came from Nordseecluster A of Germany.
